WFL Millturn Technologies limited liability company (former part of Voestalpine Steinel) is an Austrian company concentrated on manufacturing complete machining centers. The main products of the company WFL Millturn Technologies are turning-boring-milling centers. The “MILLTURNs“ have found use in many high-tech-companies for the manufacturing of complex components. The trade name “MILLTURN” consists of two phrases “Milling” and “Turning” and is making a differentiation to well-known Turn-Mill Centers with its distinctive newly created description of complete machining centers for turning, boring, milling and so on (Clamp one – machine complete)
History
BearbeitenIn 1948, the first turning machines have been developed and produced by the Austrian company voestalpine. More than 50,000 machines were sold until 1950, which exceeded production actually demanded for the steel works. In the early 80ies the first complex workpiece was machined with one clamping in a turning machine including a milling head and a B-axis. This led to the development of the first “MILLTURN”. After the spin-off and the privatization of the machine tool production in 1993, the company was renamed as WFL Millturn Technologies. Complete machining and the development of further “MILLTURNs” reflect the focus that is still present within the company. WFL Millturn Technologies is a subsidiary company of the German Autania AG.

Software
BearbeitenCrashGuard & CrashGuard Studio&Millturn Pro
Bearbeiten- CrashGuard, a patented WFL software solution, is an extension to the CNC control of the machine which helps avoiding collisions. A 3D-Model displays the workpiece within the machine and realizes the early risk of collisions within the automatic or manual operation.
- CrashGuard Studio is the corresponding software for testing and optimizing new or modified CNC programs. The operation is optimized and risk of collisions and scrap spare part production can be minimized.
- Millturn PRO enables the operator to create NC programs efficiently and easily which makes CrashGuard Studio a universial programming system for complex workpieces.
Branch offices
BearbeitenThe headquarters of WFL Millturn Technologies is located in Linz, Austria. The German branch office is settled in Sinsheim, Baden-Württemberg. Other offices are located in Brasil, China, Russia and the USA.
Technologies
BearbeitenTurning
BearbeitenOne tool is used for different angular positions and left- or right-machining. Therefore there are less turning tools needed. B-Axis-Turning
Boring
BearbeitenThe machining takes place with a coolant supply, axial as well as radial and in all angular positions to the turning axis. The switching between two different metal cutting machines is therefore not necessary.
Milling
BearbeitenThe machining of surfaces and slots is possible in all angular positions. The interpolation up to 5 axes allows the machining of every geometric form.
