English: The House committee on Mindanao Affairs met on Tuesday to discuss the 40 percent cut on the infrastructure budget for Mindanao next year. Rep. Prospero Pichay Jr. was dismayed as the drastic cut would not be in accord with the Build, Build, Build program of President Duterte, which aims to improve the country's infrastructure through bigger budget allocation. Pichay explained to committee chairman Maximo Rodriguez Jr. that the committee must first help ensure adequate budget for Mindanao. He advocated for the reenactment of the budget and urged the committee to concentrate on Charter Change. Also present in the meeting were Deputy Speaker Ferdinand Hernandez, Reps. Glona Labadlabad and Divina Grace Yu. Thereafter, the committee held an executive session. |
