English: hirucherai T.V.S.Sivasubramaniya pillai was born on May 16,1927 and belongs to a family of Musicians.He learnt his first lesson in vocal music from his grand father Thirupampuram S.Natarasundram pillai and nagaswaram from his father T.V.Subbaraya pillai.Further he learnt vocal music from his father in law Sangeetha kalanithi Thiruppampuram T.N.Swaminatha pillai and T.N.Sivasubramaniya Pillai great vocalist at Chidambaram.

A sincere traditionalist, T.V.S.Sivasubramaniyam pillai is very faith on preserving the vocal`bhani' in nagaswaram.His facile playing of his instrument brings out the full range, depth and melody of the music with sahithyam and ragha bavam in a typical Kalapramanam in his own style.

This nagaswaram artist is known for his handling of familiar Carnatic ragas in their pristine form. He has an ability to delineate gana ragas in brief and sweet manner like his `alapana' of the raga kambothi,Bairavi, Banduvarali,Thodi,Natabairavi,sankarabaranam,Shanmugapriya,keeravani,and Kalyani.

Further he has performed several krithis of Thiyagarajar,Dikshitar,and Syamasastrigal with sahidya padantharam. Tamil songs of muthuthandavar, gopla krishnabarathi,periyasamithuran,barathiyar and bharathidasan, are also performed by him in a beautiful style of his own.

His Master pieces are Nee bajanakana in nayaki ,Munuravana in thodi, Evarimatta in kambothi,sethulara in bairavi Dinamani vamsa and Enge thedukindrai in hari kambothi and Himathrisudhe in kalyani and all muthuthandavar compositions.

He is very efficient in performing the ragas,kirthanas,as well as swaraprastharam and pallavi and also mallari,thillana,thirupugalzh.

During his performances Needamangalam Meenakshi sundaram pillai, Thirumullaivoyil Muthu veeru pillai,Nachiyar koil N.P.Raghava pillai, Kumbakonam K.A.Thangavelu pillai,Needamangalam S.Shunmuga vadivel, Thiruvazhundur Ramdoss,Yazhpanam Dhkshanamoorthy,Valangaiman shunmuga sundram pillai,Vadapathi mangalam V.N.G.Dakshinamoorthy,Inivil Chinnaraja ,vaker ganesan,valayapatti A.R.subramaniyam,Harithuvaramanagalam A.K.Palanivel,Thiruvalaputhur T.A.Kaliyamoorthy,Thensittur Sundram, Thirunelveli Nynar swamy,Thirupathy Muniramaiah,Tenkanikottai Munirathinam Thiruvidaimaruthur venkatesan and Thirunageswaram T.R.Subramaniyam were accompanied Thavil.

His performances were appreciated and admired by Thirumuruga Kirubanantha variyar, Dr.V.Ragavan,Sri Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer,Srimathi M.S.Subbulakshmi,T.M.Thiyagarajan,T.V.Namasivayam, Flute T.Viswanathan,N.Ramani,Chidamparam C.S.Jayaraman,Madurai Somu, Sirkazhi Govindarajan,Thiru Vizhi Milazhilai Brothers,Thiruvenkadu Subramaniya pillai,T.N.R.Natraja sundram pillai,Chidambaram Radha krishna pillai,Darmapuram abirama sundram pillai,KulikaraiK.S.Pichiyappa pillai,Karkurichi Arinachalam Vedharanyam G.Vedamoorthy, Thirumaignanam T.P.Nataraja sundram,Namakiripettai krishnan,Shiek chinna moulana,Madurai M.P.N.Sethuraman,Ponnusamy,and A.K.C.Natarajan.

He has trained hundreds of student in Nathaswaram from Andra Pradesh,Sri Lanka,karnataka, Malasiya and Singapore.

Thirucherai T.V.S.Sivasubramaniyam pillai performed his programmes in All India Radio Trichy from 1952 upto 1994,and also his programmes were recorded in AIR in various stations all over india.He has given a recital as Pancha Gathi vinyasam and Mangala isai in AIR and he has performed in Doordharsan Chennai and Delhi.

South Indian musical instrument Nadhaswaram was used in bollywood music was in the year 1969 . Shri Sivasubramaniya Pillai's Nadhaswaram was performed with Asha Bhosle in Sachaai a hindi film directed by Iraiarulselver K.Sankar starred by Shammi Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar,Sadhana Shivdasani and Helen in the composition of music director Shankar Jaikishan. In the year 1975 Shri Sivasubramaniya Pillai performed his music in the Tamil movie Devarin' Thiruvarul along with Thirumuruga Kirubanantha variyar.

In the first function of Nadikar Thilagam Sivaji's family at soorakkottai the nagaswaram programme of Thirucherai T.V.S.Sivasubramaniyam pillai was arranged by embar Vijaya Raghava chariyar

In all the marraige functions of film director Iraiarulselver K.Sankar, Sri Siva subramaniyam's nagaswaram had participated and Puratchi Thalaivar M.G.R, listened the nathaswara music of him and praised him.

TVSS also awarded by the titles such as Nathaswara isai mani at Sikkal Singaravelar devasthanam,Nathaswara Ranjithagana at Tirunelveli Nellaiappar Gandhimathi devasthanam,Nathaswara Rathnakara by Karumari Ramadhasar and Nadhakalanidhi by Nattiya Kalanidhi Pandanallur C.Subbaraya Pillai and sangeetha kalanidhi K.P.Sivanandham Pillai.In 1994 the tittle,nathaswara isai selvam was awarded by muthamil aringer Kalainger M.Karunanithi in Muthamilzh Peravai at chennai.

saraswathi stores and HMV gramphone records has recorded the Thirucherai T.V.S.Sivasubramaniyam pillai nathaswaram .In the period 1989 to 1991 he was the Executive Member of Tamilnadu Eyal Isai Nataga Mandram.

Pillai passed away on May,13 1994.
