The Bernard van Lengerich (BvL) Group is a German machine manufacturer. It is a family-owned company with its head office in Emsbüren.[1] There are three business segments within the company group: agricultural machinery factory, surface technology and electrotechnology.

Company history

Bearbeiten

The company was found in 1860 as a hoof and wagon smithy by Gerhard van Lengerich in Emsbüren in the southern part of the Emsland.[2] In 1883 the master smith Bernard van Lengerich took over the company from his father and gives the company its name - BvL.

Since 1908 Bernard van Lengerich focused on the production of plows and dealing with agricultural machinery.

His three sons Wilhelm, Theodor and Heinrich van Lengerich took over the company in 1939 in the third generation and moved the production area from the town center to the present location. The fourth generation Waltraud Sievering, Otto van Lengerich and Wilhelm van Lengerich continued business in the 1960s.[3]

1974 the construction of the first silage block cutter for the removal of silage from the silage block started. Since this the extensive specialization and concentration of BvL on the field of feeding technology began. 1978 saw the development and manufacture of the first vertical feed mixer wagon. The BvL Oberflächentechnik (Surface technology) was founded in 1989 for the development and manufacture of industrial cleaning systems as a further mainstay of the company.[4]

Today, the company is under the leadership of the fifth generation of the family.[5]

Divisions

Agricultural machinery factory

Bearbeiten

The business segment agricultural machinery factory offers externally filling or self-filling feed mixer wagons, the V-Mix series, with different discharge variants. In addition, self-propelled feed mixers are also offered under the product name V-Mix Drive Maximus. The product range also includes products for removal and bedding technology, such as silage block cutters and straw blowers, under the names V-Load and V-Comfort. Furthermore, the mobile feed management system Dairy Feeder is offered (V-Connect)[6]. In addition, the products of BvL-Maschinenfabrik also include biogas and solids feeders (V-Bio).[7]

Surface technology

Bearbeiten

The business segment surface technology produces water-based cleaning systems for applications in industry, for example for cleaning components and parts in automotive production.[8] Other sectors include rail transport, hardening shops and foundries, and mechanical engineering.[9] The product range of cleaning systems extends from turntable cleaning systems, basket washing systems and rotary indexing systems to conveyor systems, multi-chamber immersion cleaning systems and large parts cleaning systems.[10] In addition, high-pressure processes for cleaning, deburring and paint stripping are offered under the name Geyser. Modules for process monitoring and quality control (Libelle) as well as intelligent, networked evaluation and control applications (so-called Smart Cleaning) are offered.[11] Parts of Libelle are patented at the European Patent Office.[12] This division employed 168 people in fiscal 2019 and generated around 26.4 million dollars in sales in 2019.[13]

Electrotechnology

Bearbeiten

The electrical engineering division of the BvL Group is a medium-sized craft business for electrical installation, security technology and building automation that has been in existence since 1923.[14]
