Die Travis Trophy ist eine nach Edward Travis benannte Auszeichnung der National Security Agency, die jährlich an die erfolgreichste Abhöreinheit vergeben wird. Sie wird auch der "NSA-Oscar" (Bamford) genannt.[1] Die Field Station Berlin auf dem Teufelsberg erhielt den Preis viermal.[2]. Die NSA Georgia (im Fort Gordon) erhielt den Preis sechsmal.[3]
Origins
BearbeitenAccording to James Bamford's The Puzzle Palace, the Travis Trophy's original purpose was a prize for competitive games (such as chess and softball), between the Army and Navy SIGINT organizations.[4]
