Margritly (*1. April 1973 in Beirut als Margot Tueni) ist eine libanesische Psytrance Produzentin und DJ im Bereich Ambient, Downtempo und Progressive Trance.

Leben

Margritly ist zusammen mit 17 Geschwistern in einer christlich orthodoxen Familie aufgewachsen. Ihre Mutter ist Kardiologin und Libanesin. Ihr Vater ist Diplomat mit kasachischen Wurzeln. Von 1980 bis 1984 lebte die Familie Tueni in Saudi Arabien, danach weitere vier Jahre in Marokko. Nach ihrem Abitur an der International School Beirut studierte Margritly Verkehrsmanagement und Logistik an der American University Of Technology.

Career

In her youth, she spent a lot of time in the club scene of Beirut and learned how to use synthesizers with her partner Magda Ok Baykoumi . At the age of 23, Margritly founded her own label called Hummus . Two years later, she had released five records that were played by the German DJ Sven Väth. In 2000 Margritly moved to Berlin.

Political Impact

In 2001 Margritly founded a political magazine to write about the occupation of Palestine. When the 17 October Revolution started in 2019, Margritly released two songs under Thawra Records .
