Renata Rara Kaminska

lives and works in Poland, Germany and Swiss

studied at Art Akademie in Lublin/PL, Zürich/CH and Leipzig/D, and finished her MFA for fine art at Art Institut, UMCS (prof. Mikołaj Smoczyński) in Lublin and Academy of Visual Arts, HGB (prof. Astrid Klein) in Leipzig. Since the 2000’s she has produced social and site-specific sculpture, installations, photographs, videos and performances. Her work examines social, cultural, political, economic and linguistic backgrounds of misunderstandings in the communication within relationships (privately as well as publicly) in our societies. She focused on a discursive practice, which on a visual level can analyze and uncover, shift and maybe overwrite cultural codes and signs. In this relation the artist frequently used “everyday materiality” such as daily newspapers or “ad hoc” press kit. Her works have been exhibi- ted at Gallery Monique Goldstrom in New York, within a guest participation at the Luxembourg Pavilion at the 55th International Art Exhibition in Venice, Galerie Chert in Berlin and the AURORA Biennial of art in public space in Dallas. In the recent years Kaminska has run also her interdisciplinary and ephemeral project BEL ETAGE, started in 2009 and continue this work annually.
