Putting this on wikipedia
BearbeitenHi, this is an absolutely fantastic table and precisely because of that I am wondering if there might be a good reason for it not to be on any wikipedia yet. Are there any copy rigt issues I should be aware of? I do know that the IEC charges an arm and a leg for the purchase of what basically amounts to this. --Anasofiapaixao (Diskussion) 18:15, 26. - @Anasofiapaixao: Thank you. Actually, this table is very large and i'm planning to split it up into several parts, because its size would be to large for one article. I think, there should be no copyright issues (threshold of originality) and there also exist detailled tables about Unicode characters on Wikipedia; a standard, which (itself) is also protected by copyright (altough it is freely accessible). The standards and the databases are very expensive, but the symbols can be researched freely on the ISO OBP website. If you want to upload symbols, you should have drawed them by yourself. We have discussed the problems with the copyright of symbols in the past, but there are also ISO 7001 and ISO 7010 symbols on Wikipedia, with which there are no issues. I think, there might be another reason, that ISO 7000 and IEC 60417 are (actually) not on Wikipedia, probably a low interest (in the past) in this standards. By the way: The table was actually made by @Mrmw; there is a smaller version with less information, and with german names of the symbols (i have adopted them from a older version of DIN EN 60417). There also exists an detailled table of ISO 7000 in an older version of the ISO 7000 symbol list, which was also made by @Mrmw. In this table, i have added some german names of symbols from other DIN standards. I have both tables shortened, because they are very large and need to be splitted up into several parts (at least 1000 or less symbols in each part), if you want to made an article with them. --Maxi123ID (Diskussion) 22:04, 26.
