(sprich W, das kyrillische B ist wie das lateinische C der dritte Buchstabe des Alphabets). – No, Cyrillic В was used, because it was not still not used for series name: only А, Б and Г (first, second, and fourth Cyrillic letters) were occupied. The fact that both В and С are third in corresponding alphabets is purely a coincidence; note that the production of type Г cars was started in 1939, when nobody could predict that the third letter В would be needed in a future for German cars.
