Wer da jetzt genau was gemacht hat, ist meistens nicht so ganz genau herauszufinden, jedenfalls lese ich in Ken Belson, Brian Bremner: Hello Kitty: The remarkable story of Sanrio and the billion dollar feline phenomenon, Wiley & Sons 2004, ISBN 0-470-82094-2, S. 45: "Despite Tsuji's efforts to expand the company's repertoire of creative talent, the film he is most remembered for is a documentary, Who are the Debolts and Where Did They Get 19 Kids?. Produced in 1977, the 72-minute film won the Academy Award for best documentary in 1978, making Tsuji the first and only Japanese producer to win the award. Directed by John Korty and made in conjunction with Charles Schultz Associates, the film profiles ..." In der IMDB ist zumindest "Sanrio Company" mit bei den Producers erwähnt, anderswo heißt es Meanwhile, Sanrio also was achieving recognition for its film production, winning the Academy Award for Best Documentary Film for 1978 for the Sanrio-produced Who Are the Debolts and Where Did They Get 19 Kids? The company also released the film The Glacier Fox in 1978. Wie gesagt, man weiß nicht so genau, wer da jetzt wie wichtig war, aber für Sanrio ist das jedenfalls einer der interessanteren Ausflüge, und der größte (und mehr oder weniger einzige) Erfolg des Abenteuers Hollywood.
