Entschuldige mal,

aber ich war gerade auf die Überstetzung von Ifang Bondi etwas irritiert!!! Das wort ist niemals Fulani stammend, sondern Mandingo,und es bedeutet nicht "sei du selbst",sondern: Ifang-selbst,Bondi(nehmen,herausnehmen)= selbst retten!

Ich wäre Ihnen sehr Dankbar wenn die Übersetzungen richtig und zutreffend zugeordnet werden!

Ein Grundprinzip ist, dass man Quellen zitiert und das ist hier geschehen: die beiden Sachverhalte wurde in http://www.allmusic.com/artist/p165371 beschrieben. Wobei "be yourself" als "sei du selbst" übersetzt wurde. Der Fehler liegt also nicht am Wikipeda-Autor. --Atamari 00:01, 18. Okt. 2011 (CEST)

Ifang Bondi

Any relevant contribution on the subject of music of West Africa is appreciated, provided it offers correct information. Unfortunately the content of this German article on Ifang Bondi is not only very rudimentary but contains quite some errors. As mentioned before, "Ifang Bondi" is not at all Fulani, but a Mandingo expression which translates as "Be/show yourself" and refers to a fearsome Mandingo spirit which seeks out evil-doers within society. I have requested Allmusic a couple of times to correct the information, but as yet no reaction.

Bandleader Badou Jobe was also bandleader of the Super Eagles, playing a western/latin/african repertoire, and together with lead singer Paps Touray decided to disband the Super Eagles in favour of an authentic African music style, the Afro Manding Sound, which they had developed after 2 years of research into the traditional music styles of The Gambia. So Ifang Bondi never played western pop music, on the contrary.

Throughout the years dozens of musicians have been part of the group. The musicans mentioned in the article form the line-up of the late 90s, and they are definitely not the founder members of Ifang Bondi! Some names are wrongly spelled: Momodou Susa is Suso, Maniaye Diop is Mandiaye. Some more corrections to the line-up: El Hadj Samb was the lead singer; Juldeh Camara played the riti (1-string violin); Momodou Suso played the kora and definitely not percussion; Ebou Gaye played all kind of percussion intsruments but not djembe, nor does he sing.

Oussou Senor Njie never was a member of Ifang Bondi. He was part of the Super Eagles, but absconded, long before Super Eagles changed into Ifang `Bondi.

The Tiramakhan Ensemble is the traditional acoustic outfit of Ifang Bondi.

The (international) debut album of Ifang Bondi was Saraba, 22 years before Gis Gis! Super Eagles started touring Europe in the 60's, and as Ifang Bondi the band continued international tours ever since the 70s, including concerts in virtually every corner of Germany.
