Laut seiner offiziellen Künstler- wie auch seiner privaten facebook-Seite lebt er aktuell in Los Angeles. Auf letzterer steht auch das Geburtsdatum 4.1. sowie der korrekte Geburtsort (schon hinzugefügt), der zur Zeit seiner Geburt noch São Salvador do Congo hieß. Vielleicht hat wer Lust und das(sprachliche) Geschick, etwas von seiner Bio-Info (auf fb-Seite) noch ins deutsche Wiki zu übertragen? Hier komplett reinkopiert: Born on the border of Angola and Congo in 1954, Waldemar Bastos started singing and making music at an early age. "Five centuries of colonisation meant that when I was growing up I heard many songs from many different cultures," he explains. As well as the African sounds he heard a lot of Brazilian music; the Beatles, Nat King Cole, the Bee Gees and Carlos Santana as early non-African influences. But with an independence war raging, Angola was not an easy place to live. When he was still at school, Waldemar was detained and imprisoned by the Portuguese colonial secret police without reason. After Angola eventually achieved its independence in 1975, bloody civil war engulfed the country. Waldemar reluctantly concluded that this was not a climate in which musicians could develop and grow, and following a visit to Portugal in 1982, he decided not to return. He did not stay in Portugal for very long. Lisbon has always been to “close” to Luanda, and since Waldemar feared reprisals, he went to Berlin, West Germany, where he had some friends.

Waldemar remained in Germany for a few months. Then he left to Brazil, where he became acquainted with some well known musicians, such as Chico Buarque, João do Vale, Elba Ramalho, Djavan and Clara Nunes, among many others who had been in Angola in the late seventies, integrated in the Kalunga Project. This Project was the largest Brazilian artistic delegation to ever visit another country.

Things went well in Brazil, with some of the above-mentioned artists demonstrating, in practice, the real meaning of recognition and solidarity. Waldemar ends up finding a label interested in his work, EMI-Odeon, and records his first album. The well-known “Estamos Juntos”, a definitive landmark in Waldemar Bastos’ career, includes the theme “A Velha Chica” (“Xê, little boy, don’t talk politics”), and had, among others, Chico Buarque, João do Vale, Dorival Caimmy, Martinho da Villa and Novelli as special guests. In 1985, he settled in Lisbon, recording his second album Angola Minha Namorada in 1990 and Pitanga Madura in 1992. In 1997, invited by David Byrne from Luaka Bop, Waldemar Bastos records in New York, the album Pretaluz with Arto Lindsay. Waldemar Bastos most recent album, Renascence contains much that his fans will find reassuringly familiar. And yet also with more energy and passion.

Zu dem mit Los Angeles (auch gelesen in facebook): Er lebte offenbar Anfang/Mitte der 2010er Jahre mal teilweise in L.A., pendelte zwischen Luanda und LA. - siehe hier: https://www.jazzzeitung.de/jazz/2012/04/portrait-bastos.shtml Gestorben ist er allerdings in Lissabon, wo er meines Wissens seit Unabhängigkeit Angolas (erst seit 1982, wie es hier heißt?? nicht schon früher?!) überwiegend lebte. Waldemar Bastos ist gestern, Sonntag verstorben!

So informiert seine Agentur in Facebook. Diese Seite sollte nicht nur inhaltlich komplementiert, sondern auch ausdrucksmäßig optimiert werden...

So viele holprige, teils dadurch auch inhaltlich uneindeutige Formulierungen. Z.B. das mit der portugiesischen Polizei wird in einem Satz - so ohne weitere Erklärung - hingestellt. Satz mit den Eltern auch irgendwie komisch gebaut + unvollständig wirkend.. Kurzum: Der Text ist so kurz wie suboptimal.. :-)..!
