Hintergrund

Auf Scoop öffnete Pete Townshend erstmals sein umfangreiches Studioarchiv für eine Sammlung ausgewählter Demos.

Im Booklet schrieb Townshend:

“For many years recording was my one and only hobby. […] It has only been the people close to me who have heard the music I made for myself or by myself. Away from sophisticated studio techniques and repeated soul destroying takes the real joy I get from playing and writing comes through, and that joy is something I want to share. […] This isn’t meant to be a definitive collection, just a scoop.”

Als Produzent ist Spike genannt, es handelt sich um Helen Wilkins, die das im Jahr 2001 veröffentlichte Album Scoop 3 produzierte und hier als Executive Producer fungierte. Mike Pela war Toningenieur. Das Engineering fand in den Eel Pie Studios, den Soho Studios und den Boathouse Studios statt.
