TMPD-MIB is a mixture of two isomers (2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol-x-isobutyrate, where x = 1 or 3). In one of the isomers (x = 1) the ester bond involves the hydroxy group of the C₁ atom in the diol moiety, and in the second isomer (x = 3) it involves the hydroxy group of the C₃ atom.
